Brighton & Hove Local Authority asked me to develop and deliver a 2009-2010 Working With Others Early Years course for their EYPs (Early Years Professionals), following a presentation in the UK by the directors of Pumpkin Patch Day Care Centre, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

Building on the positive and dramatic results in Canada and on expertise developed using the WWO approach with very young children in the UK, I have developed a specific programme of WWO Essentials Training for Early Years Practitioners that addresses both professional practice with young children and the role of the lead practitioner in staff teams.

With the support of the Childcare Workforce Development Manager of Brighton & Hove City Council, 10 EYPs from Brighton & Hove and East Sussex and two advisers from Brighton & Hove Local Authority took part in the first year of training, which was co-developed and co-delivered with Deborah Price.

The feedback from this course was excellent and Brighton & Hove Local Authority is currently exploring the possibility of continuing with the group for a second year and launching a new group in September 2010/11 for EYPs across Brighton & Hove, East Sussex and West Sussex.
